Support Raila's Homa Bay decision, Oburu tells tyrants

29 December 2014, 18:47 William Korir

Nairobi - ODM will reign in Homa Bay, says nominated MP Oburu Odinga, despite opposition over the party's choice for a Senatorial By election.

The Homa Bay Senatorial by elections have caused uproar within the party with the choice of Moses Kajwang as the person to lead the party in contesting the polls.

Long time associated Silas Jakakimba and Philip Okundi have quit the party to contest elsewhere, a move that has been met with derision by Oburu.

Oburu insists that all must take the party's choice and stick by it to avoid going against party leader Raila Odinga's word.

" We must all support the decision the party has made. That is the only way forward," he said of the move by some party members to go against the decision.

He also condemned the chaos witnessed in an ODM rally in Homa Bay over the weekend, terming it reckless and unacceptable.

" It is indeed sad that we can find ways to fight among ourselves. It is reckless and must not be accepted anywhere".

" Democracy states that there is a winner and a loser. Let us accept where we are as a party," he added.

His words though have been met with disgust from some members of the party, who feel that the party has undemocratically acted in choosing Kajwang.

" It was undemocratic from top to bottom and I accept that and have decided to move and channel by candidacy through a different channel, Okundi said.

The elections will be held February 12, 2014.
