Migori - Suba MP, John Mbadi, has said he will vie for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General position in the February national elections.
Mbadi said the current ODM Secretary General who is also the Kisumu Senator, Anyang’ Nyong’o, has worked well for the party and should leave the position for a young person.
“We need a leader who has been tested and ready to serve the party members with equality and push it to the next government,” Mbadi.
Mbadi, who was speaking during a fund raising at Holy Spirit Osogo Catholic Church in Uriri constituency, pledged to ensure that the nomination process is free and fair and avoid incidents where 'people escape with nomination certificates while others buy leadership to lock out voters’ voice' if elected.
“ODM manifestos like social welfare and employment opportunities should be put out clearly through the party,” he said.
Area MP, John Kobado supported Mbadi as the best candidate for reforms in ODM and Cord alliance.
“We need the old guards in the party for political experience but we also need youths with energy to breathe life into the party,” Kobado said.
Chesumei MP, Elijah Lagat was the chief guest during the fund raising that realized KES 1.3 million towards the construction of a KES 8 million church.
