Nairobi - Shock has gripped a secondary school in central Uganda after a South Sudanese student reportedly stabbed a Ugandan student to death accusing him of reporting him to school authorities about sneaking into the school with a mobile phone which is against the school's regulations.

The incident took place at St Michael Ssonde Secondary School, one of the most prominent boarding schools in the region, given the big number of foreign students including those from Rwanda, Kenya South Sudan and Tanzania.

The Sudanese student who stabbed his school mate has been identified as Lual Nyok,22. The student he stabbed to death is Brian Rukundo a senior 3 student.

According to school authorities, after Nyok was found with the mobile phone, he was suspended for 14 days and requested to come back with his parent.

One of the school workers, John Okuda said, " Nyok jumped  over the perimeter wall at night, towards 10.00 pm and entered into the dormitory where Brian was sleeping and stabbed him several times in the chest. Brian died a few minutes after being stabbed," he narrated.

Nyok fled after the incident.

Regional police commander,Michael Ozere has visited the the school with some criminal investigations officers to gather information to incriminate Nyok if he is arrested.

The uncle to the deceased, Jackson Kato has advised schools with students from South Sudan to be very careful while handling them because they are hot tempered.
