Nyeri - A High School student from Nyeri County was on Tuesday freed on a bond of KES 100 000 after he denied charges of sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl.
Appearing in a Nyeri court before Acting Senior Principal Magistrate, Christine Wekesa, the boy was charged that on September 28, he defiled the girl at their home in Skuta Estate.
The accused is said to have committed the offence while the mother of the girl was away for a meeting.
It is alleged that since the accused is well known to the girl and the family, he took advantage of their familiarity and friendship to lure the girl and commit the offence.
The mother discovered the incident later following complaints of pain from the young girl while relieving herself, and then rushed her to hospital for treatment.
The victim narrated her ordeal to the mother, adding that the boy had ordered her not to disclose the matter to anyone.
The accused was arrested on October 4 by officers from Nyeri central police. The prosecution, led by Inspector Peter Wahome, asked court to give him extra time so that he can enlist more witnesses in the matter.
The case will proceed on October 31.
