A 19-year-old man was arraigned before a Nyeri court on Tuesday for assaulting a barmaid at Mweiga shopping centre in Kieni East District.
Godfrey Mwangi Wamuyu appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Shadrack Okato charged that on the eve of New Year at Model Bar he assaulted Susan Wairimu Gathiga causing grievous harm on her.
At the dock, Mwangi claimed that he was a form three student at Mahiga Secondary School though he had no document to proof this assertion.
However, he denied the charges and was released on a bond of KES 20 000 and a surety of similar amount until February 20 when the case was slated to proceed.
