Student Body election row
13 April 2012, 10:52
Tension looms at the University of Nairobi after circulation of copies of a memo on notice boards at the campus stating that there were no Student Organization of Nairobi University (SONU) elections.
The memo from all students’ commissioners addressed to all university administration, including the Vice Chancellor, calls on all aspirants not to return their nomination papers because the process was already flawed.
Disputing these claims, Kevin Mureithi, an outgoing SONU official said, “This is a strategy by unknown people to create tension at the campus. All we need is a peaceful, free and fair election.” Mureithi said that, the elections will go on as scheduled on 28th of this month.
