Njoro - Residents of Naishi area in Njoro are in shock after they woke up Friday morning to find five goats dead following a suspected hyena attack.
Siri Wangare, the owner of the killed livestock is counting a loss of KES 500 000.
She said that the wild animal sneaked into her compound Thursday night and attacked the animals.
“I suspect it was a hyena. All the goats were attacked from behind. The speed at which it killed them displays its gluttonous nature,” she said.
The woman pleaded with the Kenya Wildlife Services wardens to consider compensating her. Her home is less than five kilometers from the perimeter fence of the Lake Nakuru National Park, and area residents believe the wild animal sneaked from the Park.
“That is Hyena that just jumped over the fence from the Park. Let KWS compensate this woman for the loss of her livestock,” said James Roy, a neighbor.
The residents are now living in fear of further attacks by the animal.
