Three people narrowly survived after one-storey building under construction collapsed in Mosocho Kisii county. The casualties were rushed to Kisii Level Five Hospital in Kisii town.
The three were removing timber from timber from ground floor when the incident occurred. One the survivors who was not in the building but was inside blamed the fall on heavy rain. However, Mr. Nyakundi Fred, one of the masons blamed it on the cheap and weak materials used by the owner of the building who had refused to purchase quality materials with an aim of cut construction cost.
Kisii OCPD said police had launched investigation into the cause of the incident and urged developers to use quality materials and avoid endangering the lives of workers and occupants.
