Sony beats Oserian 2-1

21 February 2012, 15:38 John Maigwa

Sony Sugar registered their second successive win in the Kenyan Premier League after winning 2-1 away to new comers Oserian in Naivasha. Enock Agwanda started Sony’s assault as early as the first minute before Oserian equalized through John Keo.

Sony, under former Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars tactician Zedekiah Otieno piled more pressure on the hosts and they managed to squeeze in a second through Jared Ogalo who scored in the second minute of added time to give Sony the much priced win.

Sony now sit on top of the table with six points, two ahead of second placed AFC Leopards who have four. Leopards beat Mathare United 2-0 in an impressing match on Sunday afternoon.

Leopards scored in each half through Ugandan Jimmy Bageya and new Harambee Stars call up Bernard Mang’oli. Coach Koops was ecstatic with the first win of the season after Leopards registered a disappointing barren draw in their first match of the season.

Sofapaka are third on the table after a hard earned 2-1 win over KCB in a match played at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday. Jacob Kelly, the current KPL top scorer with three goals in two matches had given the bankers a lead in the first half before new Sofapaka man Simon Mburu leveled the scores.

Veteran John Baraza added Sofapaka’s tally in the second half from the Spot after new boy Binza was hacked down in the box.

Gor Mahia who were walloped 3-0 away in Maputo in the Confederations Cup sit at 4th though they did not kick a ball this weekend in the KPL owing to their involvement in the CAF Competition. Tusker also featuring in a CAF competition did not play in the league though they sit 5th on three poins, same as K’ogalo.

2010 Champions Ulinzi Stars come sixth after their 2-1 win over Neighbors Karuturi Sports in Nakuru on Saturday. Allan Otindo had given the former Champions a scare scoring first before Kelvin Amwayi leveled scores. Evans Amwoka scored the winner lat on in the match to give the soldiers a perfect bounce back after an awful loss to KCB last weekend.

In other matches played over the weekend, City Stars were held to a barren draw by Rangers at home in Kawangware and Chemelil also managed a barren draw away to Thika.
