Nairobi - The 100-year-old granny who had been jailed for three months has been set free, thanks to the Sonko Rescue Team.
Margret Ngima had started serving a three months jail term at Embu GK Prison after a High Court judge found her guilty of contempt of court and fined her KES 100,000, which she could not raise.
“Finally our grandma Ngima Gakoromo Margaret Ngina is free courtesy of Sonko Rescue Team and can afford to smile once again after being behind bars because of lack of KES 100,000 bond due to a land case,” Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, whose rescue team helped bail out the granny said.
According to the senator, the team will later perform a full medical check-up to make sure that the granny is all round okay after the unexpected humiliation she underwent.

“Let us all learn to respect, love and protect the elderly especially women. They took care of us when we were young and it is now our turn to take real care of them,” Sonko said.
He expressed his dissatisfaction in the manner in which the granny was treated saying there are well-connected individuals implicated in multi-million shillings public rip-offs yet no stern action has been taken against them.
He also called for further and thorough investigation into the granny’s case.
