Sonko fails to remove 'Kidero drums'

Nairobi - Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko has failed in a bid to halt the changes being made to traffic flow in Nairobi by Governor Evans Kidero.
Sonko had gone to the High Court Tuesday to stop the enactment of the new rules which blocked several roundabouts in the city in a bid to ease traffic flow which has been a perennial problem.
Justice Weldon Korir declined the request by the Nairobi Senator after the County
Government of Nairobi insisted that the application by the petitioner has been overtaken by events since the barriers were removed at the Bunyala and
Kidero Wednesday re-opened the two roundabouts following pressure from the public, something that has resulted to normal flow of traffic
in the entire city.
Sonko had earlier warned that if the county government does not review the new traffic routes, he will mobilize city residents to remove the
barriers erected on the affected roads.
The Senator said Nairobi
Governor Kidero and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure had
hurriedly implemented the changes without involving the public in
accordance with the law.
