Sonko calls for end to NSSF wars

Nairobi - Nairobi Senator Gideon Mbuvi 'Sonko' has called on Labour cabinet secretary Kazungu Kambi and COTU boss Francis Atwoli to end turf wars at NSSF.
The two are understood not to be in good terms over several happenings at the huge public pension scheme as well as other major labour issues.
Most recently, their spat has played out in public with Kambi retiring Atwoli and Federation of Kenya Employers boss Jacqueline Mugo from the NSSF board of trustees.
The move though has broken down following a court order and with the two forced to share boardrooms for the foreseeable future, Sonko is asking that they down their grievances for the sake of Kenyans.
" I would please like to ask my friends Kazungu Kambi and Francis Atwoli to end their war and try serve Kenyans, he said.
" They are important to the country in massive ways and it would be good if they sought cordial ways to work together, he added.
The two have clashed severally and especially over the KES 5 billion Tassia project as well as the newly implemented NSSF act that will lift monthly contributions by Kenyans from the current KES 200 monthly to 6% of monthly income.
Atwoli, in reacting to his retirement Friday, said he would not allow Kambi take personal credence over the plight of Kenyans.
" I will not allow personalization of an important scheme in the country by certain individuals, he said.
