A family in Akirang’ondu division in Igembe North District of Meru County is calling upon the government to confiscate a gun belonging to one of their kins after he threatened to shoot and kill them.
The 70 year old woman Rebecca Nchororo a mother of eleven children says one of her sons who is a renowned business man in Eastleigh has persistently been causing unrest in the family by threatening to shoot and kill them.
The businessman Stanley Kalun’ge alias Power also destroyed her mother’s house and evicted her with her grandchildren and husband leaving them to spend in the cold.
According to Joseph Michubu who is a son of the family, Power decided to demolish his mother’s house after they could not agree over a deal to buy his land.
“Power claimed he demolished the house to clean the compound because I refused to sell him my land which he wanted to buy at a very low price. After we failed to agree he decided to demolish the house”, said Michubu.
He further says power has two guns despite only one being licensed and he uses them to scare the family and the village.
“After we reported the demolition case to the police he gave us a one day ultimatum to leave the compound and we are afraid that when he comes back he might kill all of us. No one jokes with his threats. Our lives are in danger”, said Michubu.
The family has since relocated their mother and her grand children to a safer place where they will monitor her safety.
