Smiling Rape doctor Mugo says he is innocent

11 September 2015, 11:43 Victor Tinto

Nairobi - Rape doctor Mugo Wa Wairimu will be detained 14 days as he awaits investigations into alleged rape of victims at his clinics.

Mugo was arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts Friday to answer to rape offences, to which he did not plea.

Police have been granted 14 days to investigate and have him charged with serious crimes and offences, Magistrate Charity Oluoch said.

Mugo was in a good mood throughout the session Friday morning and offered the media a word of confidence when he was being taken to police custody.

" Tuko sawa" (I am okay)," he murmured to the media.

He will be detained in an unknown police station due to his safety and tricky nature of the case.

Wairimu has been in the news in recent times after a television expose showed him allegedly raping a sedated patient at one of his clinics.

He was arrested in Limuru town Thursday after going missing.
