Single women can only blame themselves

15 October 2014, 15:04 Shakila Alivitsa

Nairobi - Kenyan women always cry about how there are no good men out there. That said, there are probably better women out there than you are who are grabbing the men. If you are a single woman and not by choice, you should probably look at yourself and what you do that may be getting you the Mr. Awful.

Addicted to being in a relationship

Women rarely if ever rush into anything, they over-analyze and over-think until it suits. But one thing they never apply the same is relationships. When a woman is single, she is almost at the end of her tether, so she keeps falling for all the ‘Mr. Rights’ that come her way and keeps getting burnt just because she is afraid of being alone. If you do not give the man time to know you, he will just use you, dump you, and leave you wondering why you are not getting the call back.

He will change

If a man is 26+, you can bet he has done all the growing up he needs to. Do not run into a relationship thinking that you are going to change him. Look at it from your perspective, do you expect anyone to change our character. Not habits but character.

Being judgmental

You are not perfect so do not expect to meet a perfect person. What humans do is compromise. It is where he gives you leeway for some of the habits and behaviors you have and you should do the same. Compromise does not mean settling though.

The world is your oyster

Yes it is, but not if you think you are the perfect catch and you can have whatever you want. There is self-respect and being ego-centric. Ego-centric never gets you anywhere. Expecting the best when you are not the best will keep attracting all the frogs and chasing away the Mr. Right. Know the difference and work on it otherwise you will be left chasing after thin air. Even the frog has standards.

His mum and you

If a man treats his mum very well, there is something to admire but if he puts her before you then there is something to be afraid of. You will always come second even after you are in your own household. Trying to be her does not help, you will still come second. And you were looking for a man to marry not a son to mother.
