Shock as Bungoma man gives birth to a frog

28 November 2014, 13:49 Ben Wafula

Bungoma - Drama unfolded at Chwele district hospital Wednesday as a middle aged man who had been rushed to the health facility by his relatives after developing stomach complications 'gave birth' to a creature resembling a frog.

The bizarre incident brought business at the busy health facility to a standstill when word went round attracting a mammoth crowd of curious wananchi who thronged the facility to have a glimpse of the incident.

Job Kuloba, a relative of the man told News24 in an exclusive interview that their two male relatives identified as Cyrus Sichangi and Barasa Steven from Sikusi village in Bungoma Central sub-county developed serious complications before they were rushed to the health facility for medical checkup.

Sichangi is alleged to have given birth to a frog like creature in an incident that left the health practitioners, patients and the residents shocked.

It was not immediately established how the male patient gave birth since his womb is not made in such a way that he can get pregnant and give birth to children in the normal way women do.

Phanuel Wekesa, a Chwele resident said that they suspected he man had been bewitched considering that such an incident has never happened in the hospital leave alone in Bungoma County.

A nurse who was treating the patients refused to divulge more information on the incident, referring reporters to his senior who could not be reached on phone because he was busy in a meeting.

Residents alleged that a powerful witchdoctor from Uganda had cast a deadly spell on the duo after they denied stealing a sheep from their neighbor. It is alleged that they later sold the sheep and used the cash on a drinking spree.

Business was paralysed at the health facility as nurses and curious residents talked in low tones in disbelief after the frog like creature was thrown out of the facility.

However, the two patients remained non-committal regarding the stolen sheep as they were also in shock.

When Barasa started showing the same signs as his younger brother, he was removed from the hospital and rushed to Uganda for cleansing.

It was not immediately established whether he also gave birth like his brother or not.
