Kampala - Police in Nabweru, on the outskirts of Kampala are holding a woman who allegedly killed her 7 month old baby because her husband was sexually starving her.
According to Nabweru police chief Wilfred Bagenda, the arrested woman has been identified as Florence Nakintu. The seven month old daughter she killed is called Hadija Nabasirye.
He said they have opened a murder case against her on file number CRB/149/2015. He however said that she could be mentally disturbed.
Eye witnesses said that the woman poured paraffin in the daughter's nose and ears while seated on one of the verandahs of an abandoned house, a small distance away from her home not knowing that some people were seeing her.
" When I saw her pouring something in the baby's nose and ears, I alerted some people and we arrested her. We later realized that she had poured paraffin," said Assad Bwambale a witness.
He said that on interrogating her, the woman claimed that she did because her husband was starving her sexually.
The child was rushed to hospital where she died while receiving treatment.
