Seventeen in hospital after attack on a village in Lugari

Lugari - Seventeen people are nursing serious injuries they sustained during an attack by a gang of armed robbers in Lugari, Kakamega County.
According to residents, a group of about 20 men, who were armed with crude weapons, conducted a door to door raid in Kivaywa village on Tuesday night.
As a result, 17 people were seriously injured and are admitted at Webuye District Hospital and Moi Referral Hospital in Eldoret.
The gang is said to have robbed the residents of their valuables during the attack.
Confirming the incident Matete OCPD Rama James said the gang attacked various homesteads and are believed to have come from neighbouring Bungoma County.

“The gang tricked the villagers by beating up a woman who was in their company who cried for help and when the residents came to help they pounded on them with machetes. Seventeen people were hurt in the attack," he said.
Police have commenced investigation into the incident.
Residents have been urged to embrace Nyumba Kumi initiative and report any suspicious people who might be involved in carrying out criminal activities in the area.
