Thika - Police officers in Thika have arrested seven suspected highway robbers who are believed to be behind a series of robberies in Thika town and its environs.
The suspects were apprehended at an incomplete building along Thika-Garissa road by plain-clothed officers.
Police recovered electronic equipments and motor vehicle spare parts during the Saturday raid.
They said the suspects are believed to be part of a gang that has been robbing residents of Castle, Athena, Muguga, Biafra, Section Nine, Ngoingwa and Makongeni Estates as well as motorists along the Garissa road.
Members of the public who arrived at Thika police station for identification of the robbers and the property recovered said the suspects were perpetrating crime at broad daylight while armed with crude weapons including machetes.
Police said the suspects will be arraigned in court for trial as they asked members of the public to volunteer information that can aid in investigations.
