Seven ladies were Thursday charged in a Kisumu Court with loitering in public place and soliciting for sex.
The prosecution told the court that the accused allegedly committed the crime at about 1.00 a.m. on June 13 at Kondele.
Police said the women were loitering and soliciting male passersby for sex contrary to section 34 of Municipal Council by laws as read with section 591 of the same laws.
The accused - Amina Datu, Rachael Oyoyo, Angela Omondi, Eunice Awuor, Veronicah Achieng, Silper Akinyi and Lucy Matagaro - pleaded guilty of the offence before Principal magistrate Thomas Obutu.
They were each fined KES 2 000 or serve 30 days imprisonment at Kodiaga GK prison.
Meanwhile, a woman, 87, was found burnt beyond recognition in her house at Muhoroni District Wednesday night.
The late Magdalene Opiyo Abuya who hails from Kibigori sub-location was said to have been living alone at the time of her death.
Muhoroni District Commissioner Solomon Abwaku said Abuya was alone in the house according to her neighbors who wondered what could have transpired that night.
Abwaku said Police officers led by Muhoroni OCPD Muthuri Mwongera have already launched investigations to establish circumstances surrounding the death.
Speculation had it that the woman may have committed suicide but the theory has since been dismissed by locals as far-fetched.
