Semelang’o in court to force his way into Mathare election
30 July 2014, 16:40
Nairobi - Former Youth Enterprise Fund Chairman Gor Semelang’o is in court to seek orders to allow him participate in next week's Mathare by- election.
Semelang'o, who has been in the news lately fir his sacking from the fund wants to contest the by-election next week.
He is seeking orders to revoke the law used to bar him from contesting the election, which says that because he did not resign six
months to the by-election date, he cannot contest.
Semelang'o argues that the particular law does not apply to him, because he was sacked from office.
On the other hand, former Kasarani MP William Omondi has been cleared to vie for the election.
Omondi was cleared by the High Court Wednesday after the court ruled there was no grounds to deny him the right to vie.
He was excluded on a technicality.
