Security heightened in Nanyuki town

Nanyuki - Laikipia East sub-County Administration Police (AP) Commander, John Tarus on Thursday enforced security in all the supermarkets, hotels and streets in Nanyuki town.
He told the local residents and tourists that security personnel in the area are very alert.
“We have deployed more security personnel in the premises and streets to enhance security,” he noted while speaking to the media.
He appealed to the public to report any suspicious characters to the security personnel to avoid any ugly incident.

Tarus asked supermarket security personnel who screen customers using metal detectors to also use their hands to ensure no clients are carrying dangerous objects are allowed entry.
Nakumatt supermarket Nanyuki branch manager, Munene Wachira said he is committed to seeing that the supermarket was secured from acts of criminality.
“I was the branch Manager of Westgate Nakumatt Supermarket when terrorists gained entry and started shooting customers, and I would not like to witness a similar incident again,” he added.
He assured customers of tight security.
