Security alert issued in Imenti North District

Police in Imenti North District of the Meru County have issued a security alert to area residents following an increase in the number of carjacking incidents in the district.
Imenti North District OCPD, James Kithuka, who was speaking to the Media in Meru today said this month alone, carjacking incidents have
increased at an alarming rate adding that only last week a High school teacher at the Meru High school was shot dead by unknown people as
she was driving home from work at around 8 p.m.
The Police Boss said they have stepped up security in the area but cautioned members of the Public against giving lifts to unknown people
or hire vehicles from people they do not know.
He expressed concern over the increasing number of carjacking incidents with six cases being reported this month alone in the sually calm district.
He said the gangsters , two of whom have been arrested are armed with AK47 rifles and pistols. He advised wananchi to seek for Police security any time they suspect their lives are in danger.
