Scuffle at mortuary as two women fight over dead man’s body
28 February 2015, 06:55
Nairobi - Police in Kirinyaga County had a rough time controlling two factions of mourners affiliated to two women who were fighting over a dead man’s body.
The two women with their groups demanded to bury the body of Boniface Njomo Makindi, with each claiming to be the official and legal wife.
Services were paralyzed at the mortuary for some hours until police officers intervened to control the huge crowd.
Trouble started when the mortuary attendant requested to have documents signed to allow preparation and release of the body.
One group claimed that Lillian Njoki was the first wife of the deceased and therefore had the right to sign the documents while the other supporting the other woman, Faith Karimi claimed she was the ‘official wife’.
The body was later removed for burial at Gitooni village in Mwea West Sub-County.
