Scouts preach peace
28 February 2013, 14:40
Kenyan scouts should be in the front line of spreading peace messages for peaceful co-existence among people ahead of Monday elections, Equity Bank CEO James Mwangi said.
Mwangi said Kenyans need to learn how to live with each other and learn values of the scouts’ movement.
He was addressing about 25 000 scouts and girl guides across the country who had met in Nyeri town.
They had converged to mark the 157th birthday commemoration of the founder of scouts movement in Kenya Lord Baden Powell.
They were also marking the annual celebrations of the founder’s birthday by paying tribute at his grave.
This year’s theme was "Scouting for Peace and Co-existence".
Equity Group Foundation earlier offered scout members aged 18 - 25 years education and awarded them certificates.
