A Form One student at Thuura Secondary school was on Monday hit by an overtaking vehicle while riding from school along the Meru-Mikinduri
road.
The 15 year-old student, Alvin Muthuri, is said to have been pronounced dead on reaching Meru Level Five Hospital where he was rushed for an emergency medication.
Area OCPD James Kithuka confirmed the incident on Thursday saying the Probox car involved in the accident was trying to overtake when he
suddenly noticed an overcoming vehicle forcing to swerve to the left hitting the student.
Kithuka has cautioned drivers against careless driving to save on road carnage regretting that it was shameful for drivers to over speed especially near market places and learning institutions.
He also urged drivers to observe traffic rules especially during this festive Easter season to avoid cases of road accidents.
