Nakuru - Three dormitories and property worth millions of shillings were Sunday night gutted by a fire at Sacred Heart Secondary School in Rongai constituency, Nakuru.
While confirming the incident, Nakuru police boss, Bernard Kioko said the fire started around 7:00 pm, when the students were taking their supper.
“The fire started from one of the dormitories and quickly spread to the other two dormitories,” he said.
He said that the students were not able to salvage most of their belonging since the fire had widely spread by the time they were responding.
Kioko said that there were no casualties reported, except one student who suffocated due to the heavy smoke saying she was later resuscitated and is now in stable condition.
He said that the real cause of fire is yet to be established.
“We are still conducting investigations to find the real cause of this fire,” said Kioko.
In March last year, two dormitories and a food store were consumed by fire in the same school due to an electricity fault.
Local residents however have faulted the fire fighters for failing to respond to the fire in time.
