Parents of Elite Primary School are unhappy after the Headmaster of the school ordered an early closure of the school three weeks before the stipulated time.
The angered parents argued that they had paid school fees for the entire term since it was a private school.
Speaking with the media on Wednesady afternoon, one parent Kurua Kamau said that the school pupils were sent home last week on Friday yet schools are supposed to be closed on 9th of August.
“The headmaster of this school just decided to send our children back home without telling the parents the reason behind this immediate closure yet we have paid full fee,” he said.
The parent added that class eight pupils were also suffering since they were being forced to study at a church next to the school.
He regretted that most of the parents were struggling to raise school fee for their children yet they were being sent home before the stipulated closure date.
When reached on phone, the Headmaster said that he gave a circular to all parents of the school notifying them that the school would close early.
“I gave a circular to all parents telling them that we were going to close early and open one week early as well,” he said.
He added that the reason he sent the pupils home was to create space for a seminar by unknown NGO group he said had already paid for the facility.
The Headteacher added that the school directors had agreed with the NGO to conduct the meeting at the school.
The headmaster who is only known as Wanyama said he had also written a letter to the county director regarding the same.
“I wrote a letter to the County director notifying him that we were to close early but I wonder why some parents are saying I didn't tell them,” he said.
He confirmed that class eight pupils were still continuing with their learning at a local church which he said was only for a short period.
