Nairobi - A German based Classical quartet, Salut Salon, will for the first time perform in Kenya to support the Ghetto classics, a project based in Korogocho slums in Nairobi that supports young, underprivileged people through music education.
The Salut Salon quartet, which consists of Angelika Bachmann, Iris Siegfried, Anne-Monika von Twardowski and Sonja Lena Schmid will perform at Safaricom Michael Joseph Centre on January 22, Gala Dinner at the Villa Rosa Kempiski on January 23 and at Karen Blixen Coffee Gardens on January 24.
All the proceeds will go to Ghetto Classics which is financed by donations.
Villa Rosa Kempiski General Manager, Manish Nambiar said they are honoured to play a role in supporting the growth and development of the youth in Kenya.
"Music education provides the youth with opportunities to better themselves and their community. This is done by instilling in them the life skills that come with the discipline of studying art and music. The programme also provides them with income generating opportunities," he said.
Ghetto Classics is a community programme that was started in 2009 and has reached out to over 300 children.
