Makueni - Seven people died following a grisly road accident that involved a matatu and lorry at Salama in Makueni County Thursday morning.
Six people reportedly died on the spot after the mini bus they were travelling in towards Nairobi rammed into the truck at a winding dip near Salama Town, while the seventh person died at hospital.
Several other passengers were seriously injured and rushed to Machakos Level Five Hospital.
Confirming the incident, the area police boss, Joseph Nyasini said that six men including the matatu conductor and a female passenger were among those who died in the accident.
"One person sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead minutes after arrival," he narrated.
It has emerged that the matatu, christened Kavini Safaris, was involved in another accident at the same spot in April this year.
The police boss urged motorists to be careful while on the road and desist from driving while tired.
