Safaricom returns with Jazz Festival

17 August 2015, 19:09 Eugene Odanga

Nairobi - The Safaricom International Jazz Festival is upon us once more, bringing the best of the Jazz world to Kenya, a country that has over the years grown to love and celebrate the genre of music.

Last year they brought to the stage the likes of Jimmy Dludlu, Richard Bona, Eddy Grey, Kunle Ayo and many others. This year also got off to an amazing start with the arrival of Jonathan Butler to kick off the years Jazz activities. Jonathan set the stage for what looks to be an amazing year in the Jazz world.

This time round, Safaricom have gone out of their way to bring global icon Salif Keita to the Kenyan stage. Having been born and raised in Mali, later on moving to Paris to fine tune his music, Salif has a unique style of music, fusing different styles with his roots. His rich vocals and instrumental prowess will leave even the most seasoned jazz fan in a near state of trance.

The event will be at the Bomas of Kenya on the 29th of August, with tickets going for 1500 (Advance), 2000 (gate) and 500 (Students).

James Gogo and the Gogo Simo Band will be the curtain raisers for the evening.

Check out what is in store for you here.
