'Sacred' Mugumo tree flattens KANU office

Kirinyaga - A Kanu office in Kirinyaga has been flattened by a 150-year-old tree that fell following a heavy downpour in the County.
The office located in Gichugu Constituency and said to have been constructed in the 1980s was brought down, surprisingly by a Mugumo Tree – which is sacred among the Kikuyu Community.
The Kanu Chairman in Kirinyaga, Njagi Muthinji, said the party now has no alternative place to relocate to since the other office in Kerugoya was destroyed by floods in 2007.
“This is a worrying thing to our party especially here in the County,” he said.
