Ruto re-elected Governors Council chairman

Nairobi - Bomet governor Isaac Ruto was unanimously re-elected as governors council boss in elections held in Naivasha.
His election was unanimous as all 44 governors present voted to have him retain his position as chair of the caucus without opposition.
" I am delighted to lead this group and promise to continue fighting for devolution as has been in the first year, he told the gathering Thursday.
Ruto has been on the forefront of fighting for the rights of governors, counties and their existence, on several occasions highlighting the need to have more funds availed.
He has also been at loggerheads with the Jubilee coalition which he represents, over devolution and purported moves to frustrate its growth and management.
Nairobi governor Evans Kidero was full of praise for Ruto and his work thus far, stressing the importance of his position in the running of county affairs.
" It is important and vital that he continue as he has set the trend and mark for the effective running of county governments, he said.
The meeting also highlighted problems that had seen to the derailment of devolution and promised to find ways of dealing with them in future.
