Nakuru County Deputy Governor Joseph Ruto has rubbished claims that County Deputy Governors do not have any roles at the grassroots governments.
Ruto said those spreading the speculations are creating a wrong impression of the County governments.
“We have a role in the County government and we work closely with the Governors but what others are saying it is not true,” he said.
The deputy Governor maintained that County government was a collective responsibility and that they work as a team.
He observed that the 2010 constitution had outlined clearly the responsibilities of Deputy Governors.
Speaking on Tuesday in Nakuru, Ruto said the on going claims are only misleading the public adding that he is fully committed to working with his County boss.
He added that those spreading the speculation only want to taint the image of devolution.
Ruto added that the matter should not be politicized urging and the public not to pay attention to the claims.
He further pointed out that County governments should only concentrate in rendering service to the public, saying that the political season was over.
