Nairobi - Deputy President William Ruto has dared CORD leader Raila Odinga to take him to court over claims that he owes Mumias Sugar KES 40 million.
Ruto has been in the line of the Odinga's fire after he accused the former Prime Minister of taking Kenyans for a ride over the state of Mumias and saying that he owes the company KES 40 million.
Odinga's brother Oburu had over the weekend motioned that the family would sue Ruto and now Ruto has come out guns blazing.
" I'm waiting to see how taking me to court will help my friend Tinga pay
the 'commercial loan' he admitted owing poor cane farmers in Mumias," he tweeted Monday.
The taunt will likely see a response from Raila who is keen to ensure his name is not tainted in the ongoing spat between the leaders.
Raila had said that he did not owe Mumias a shilling, saying that he had earlier however taken a commercial loan to fund other projects, using companies doing business with Mumias.
Ruto had also earlier told Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale to tell Raila to pay up first before he comes up with allegations on the government regarding the flailing sugar firm.
" I urge my brother Khalwale to first ask Raila to pay what he owes Mumias before he accuses the government of neglect," he had said.
