Ruto beat me to Weston Hotel land, says former ODM MP

Nairobi - Former Westlands MP Fred Gumo says that he was also interested in the Weston Hotel deal but was beaten to it by DP William Ruto.
Gumo says that the land on which the hotel lies was put up for sale by the then Kenya Civil Aviation Authority KCAA and that he too was interested in acquiring it.
He says that calls for the hotel to be demolished by the opposition CORD coalition top brass is uncalled for and that Ruto got the deal done in a regular manner.
" The land was up for sale and I was also interested in it,"he said in a press conference.
" I believe that Ruto got it in a clean manner because I also put up a bid but he beat me to it,"he added.
Gumo has for a long time been affiliated to the opposition Orange Democratic Movement, whose leaders have been calling for the revocation of the title deed on which the hotel lies.
ODM boss Raila Odinga says that the land was irregularly acquired and belongs to the public, so should be reclaimed.
" It is well known that the hotel sits on public land and something must be done to address that fact," he said.
