Ruto, Raila war of words sees no end

Nairobi - CORD leader Raila Odinga says that he owes Mumias Sugar company nothing and has accused the Jubilee coalition of blame game over the dwindling fortunes of the local sugar industry.
Raila had been accused by Deputy President William Ruto of owing Mumias money and claiming to be working to have the sugar industry revamped.
But in a rejoinder Tuesday, the CORD leader said that the accusation from Ruto was part of a Jubilee blueprint.
" The Jubilee Government has this habit of for example, if one unearths corruption
they say you are also corrupt. Two wrongs don’t not make a right; the
high priest of corruption in Kenya should not divert our attention from
other irrelevant issues – right now we are talking about the Uganda
sugar deal," Odinga said.
" If there was a commercial debt, it is a
commercial debt and there is nothing wrong with that. I want to say here
without fear of contradiction that there is no debt owed," he added.
Ruto had accused CORD leaders of clamouring for Mumias Sugar's revival while they themselves owed the firm money, which Raila has refuted.
Mumias is in deep debt and years of mismanagement have seen it sink into a KES 10 billion debt hole.
