Rumours of Al-shabaab in Tana Delta

Tana - Police officers in Tana River County are on high alert after reports that suspected Al-shabaab militias were in the region.
Tana Delta deputy county commissioner Mike Kimoko said the General Service Unit and the Rapid Deployment Unit have been deployed in all parts of the region.
The militia are said to have been spotted at Mnazini area before they disappeared to unknown areas.
Although the commissioner termed the reports as rumors, he said they are not leaving anything to chance on issues concerning security of the area.
“Everyone you ask he or she says they just hear it from their colleagues but we are alert because anything can happen,” he said.
He said they took security measures immediately after word went round concerning the matter which is of national security.
Recently, there have been reports that Al-shabaab were planning to strike in the coast region.
“We are doing our best and if they are truly around our officers will trace them,” he said.
