Robbery suspects slapped with KES 1 million bond

A Kwale court on Monday slapped two suspects facing robbery with violence charges with a KES 1 million bond each and a surety of the same amount or remain in cell.
Abdalla Jabil and Mohamed Mwaramwendo appeared before Kwale principal magistrate Elizabeth Macharia and denied the charges pressed against them.
Jabil and Mwaramwendo are charged that on August 9, 2013 at Diani location within Kwale County, jointly with other not before court and armed with dangerous weapons like tomato crates, robbed Hamisi Athman off properties worth over KES 80,000 and threatened to use actual violence against the complainant.
They are alleged to have stolen KES 9,000 in cash, a Sony TV worth KES 11,000, three home theatres worth KES 24,000, one Panasonic radio worth KES 12,000, two Sony radio worth KES 18,000, one stove worth KES 1,200, one thermos flask worth KES 500, six plastic stools worth KES 24,000 and a tent alongside support worth KES 11,000.
Principal magistrate Elizabeth Macharia set the hearing of the case to be on October 18, 2013.
The two are being held in Diani police station after failing to pay the bond.
