Road accident claims lives of 2

01 February 2013, 11:37Wangui Joseph

Two men died on the spot Wednesday night following a road accident along Thika - Garissa road near Kilimambogo.

The accident involved a personal car and a lorry that was transporting transit.

Confirming the accident, Thika police boss Paul Leting’ said the duo was driving in a personal car when they hit the lorry at the back.

Reportedly, they were drunk and driving at a high speed in the wee hours after refreshments in Thika town.

According to Leting’, the driver could not see the lorry and after hitting the lorry, his car rolled and plunged into nearby bushes.

Efforts to remove the bodies from the car were futile until they were assisted by fire brigade officers passing by with their equipments.

Leting’ called for drivers and all road users to observe law for safety and also avoid driving while drunk.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Thika district hospital.
