The residents of Mosocho area in kisii Central were late yesterday engulfed in a sombre mood after five men were trapped in a building they were building caved in.
According to the area OCPD Tom Mutisya the building that fell on the five victims was hurriedly built giving no time for it to dry hence developing lines of weaknesses that culminated in a tragedy.
However,Tom reported that the victims were getting treatment in Kisii Level 5 Hospital.
Tom further warned the residents to avoid hurried construction of buildings citing that the area did not favour such careless mistakes due to drenched nature of grounds in Kisii.
In the same district, serious road carnage occurred on at around 7 pm on Kisii-Kilgoris road involving a lorry, two 14-seater matatu and claiming nine lives on the spot.
The driver of the lorry that was ferrying molasses was one of those who perished on the scene after it lost control and bumped into one of the matatu killing two.It then hit a pedestrian on foot before hitting another matatu.
The injured survivors from the scene are getting treatment from various hospitals around Kisii
