Kericho - A senator and four MPS from Rift Valley have dismissed plans by Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto to contest for presidency in 2017.
Led by Kericho Senator Charles Keter the leaders termed Ruto's announcement that he will vie for the presidency as ‘a big joke’.
“My brother from the South Rift, Isaac Ruto has no chance of ascending to the presidency. His announcement on Wednesday that he will vie for the presidency is a big joke. It is a joke of the year,” said Keter, who is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto.
They said Kalenjins community will vote for President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017 and in 2022 they will back William Ruto, who will go for two terms.
“We have agreed it is Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017 then we will back William Ruto in 2022. Let Isaac not spoil our political mathematics,” said Sudi.

They asked Ruto, who is the chairman of the Governor’s Council to first put his county in order , before thinking of a bigger seat.
“It is laughable that Isaac Ruto is finding it hard to manage Bomet County, his reign has been with a lot of challenges. How can he lead the whole country if is is not able to manage a small county?" they asked.
