Nairobi - Two CORD co-principals, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetang’ula have slammed a bill that requires leaders who served in the previous government to quit elective politics in ordered to get retirement benefits.
speaking to journalists in Nairobi, Kalonzo and Wetang’ula termed the Retirements Benefits (Deputy President and Designated) state officer’s bill as both misplaced and malicious.
If passed, the bill requires that Kalonzo Musyoka and Raila Odinga, who served in the coalition government with President Kibaki, retire from active politics for them to get the funds.

“We will not accept this money if that is the condition,” said Kalonzo, who equated accepting the perks to poisoned chalice.
Wetang’ula said the bill is illegal as his co-principals are active party leaders and cannot retire.
“Many Governors, senators, MPs and MCAs were elected through either Wiper or ODM. How do you ask the party leaders to retire?” asked Wetang’ula.
