Retired cop commits suicide

18 March 2013, 12:46

Residents of Ngenia sub-location at Ethi location within Laikipia East woke up to a rude shock on Saturday morning upon seeing the body of retired Administration Police officer dangling on a tree.

Confirming the incident, area Assistant Chief Nderitu Wangai said that the retired policeman had had excessive beer when he got to his home and later left to unknown destination.

“When he left his home at around 10PM, nobody in his family knew where he went,” said Wangai.

The administrator added that everybody was shocked to see Maina’s body hanging on a tree within his compound.

However, Wangai said that it has not been established whether it was domestic issues that made the father of four to commit suicide.

“It is so sad that Maina hanged himself inside his compound but it could be possible that he might have had family issues.

Investigations are underway to establish the real cause,” added the chief.
