Nyeri - Residents of Lusoi village in Kieni sub-County, Nyeri, are spending their nights beating drums in a bid to keep elephants off their farms.
The stray jumbos from a private sanctuary have been destructing economic activities in the area by destroying their horticultural crops.
On Tuesday, they protested the constant invasion by the marauding jumbos into their farms.
The farmers lamented that they had lodged complaints with Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) but no action been taken has so far.
The distraught farmers are demanding compensation from the KWS.
Jane Wambui, one of the farmer, observed that the area might soon rely on relief food since all their crops which were ready for harvesting were destroyed by the elephants.
She said that she was expecting plenty harvest but her expectations were watered down by a recent invasion into her farm by stray elephants.
