Residents demand transfer of police officers

Nakuru - Residents of Waseges ward in Subukia constituency want all the police officers in the area to be transferred saying they are not helping reduce crimes rates.
The residents said that police officers from a local police post spend most of their time in chang'aa dens instead of protecting the public.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday during a press briefing in Subukia, area ward representative, Njenga Kangethe, said that cases of insecurity have been on the rise and the police are not doing anything to help.
“Most of these officers are not doing anything and that’s why we want them transferred,” he said.
He said that most of the time there are no police officers at the two police posts in the ward, a thing he said is worrying the locals.
Njenga cited an incident that happened early this week, where the area chief was attacked by a group of thugs who have been terrorising the locals for months.
He lamented that despite the chief having reported the matter to the police, the lawbreakers are yet to be arrested.
“Everyone is terrified by the cases of insecurity because the officers seem to be doing northing to protect us,” he said.
He added that over 20 goats were stolen two weeks ago at the same area yet the officers have done nothing to help recover them.
The MCA said that they have also tried to hold meetings with the DC and DO1 over the insecurity issue but the situation has remained the same.
