Kamakwa Estate residents are blaming Nyeri fire fighters for their slow response to an inferno that left over 200 families without shelter on Sunday.
They said they appeared to be ill - prepared to fight disaster.
More than 40 rental houses and property worth thousands of shillings were reduced to ashes due to suspected electrical fault.
Public efforts to put it off were futile for it spread quickly due to strong winds.
However, elective post aspirants arrived at the scene and promised to assist the affected families.
Led by Special Programmes Minister Esther Murugi, they pledged provision of blankets, tents, foodstuffs and other basic necessities.
Though nobody was hurt during the midday incidence, the residents said they would not have incurred such losses if only fire fighters had arrived early.
