Nyeri - Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) impersonators have swindled several residents of Karatina town out of tens of thousands of shillings.
According to area MCA, Joel Gichuru, the impersonators have been collecting money from unsuspecting residents purporting to be able to recruit them into KDF.
While addressing media, Gichuru reported that the conmen have been targeting youth, especially Form Four leavers.
“The impersonators have been telling residents to book space in a forthcoming KDF recruitment. We are not aware of any upcoming KDF recruitment. The conmen are taking advantage of unemployment amongst the youth,” said Gichuru as he asked residents to be more cautious.
The impersonators have been selling the ‘KDF vacancies’ at KES 8 000.
“They have also been claiming that I have sent them to collect money,” he said.
