Nyeri - A Kikuyu radio presenter has been accused of tarnishing the name of Tetu MP, Ndung’u Gethenji and Nyeri County government administration.
A cross section of Tetu residents said the presenter has been attacking the MP over crackdown on drugs and second generation brews.
Led by Maina Maru, the residents said the man has political interests since he has unsuccessfully vied for Tetu parliamentary seat on two occasions.
“He is abusing his current position by launching political attacks on our MP who was democratically elected and sub-county commissioner. He should wait for 2017 and re-sell his policies to electorates,” said Maru.
The popular news anchor was further accused of making ‘tribal remarks’.

“He recently announced that Nyeri County is led by non-Kikuyus. He alleged that criminal activities could not end in the County because national government is represented by people from other tribes,” he added.
Mercy Wanjiru, a resident, said that illicit and second generation brews have been eradicated in the constituency.
“Our DCC and MP have done a resounding job in closing down illegal businesses. The man is our son but he should stop maligning the name of other leaders,” said Wanjiru.
The veteran journalist was recently attacked at Wamagana Stadium by rowdy youths who hurled stones at him during a campaign to eradicate killer brews in the area.
His supporters, including women, came to his rescue as he drove out of the meeting to an unknown destination.
