Kisumu - Patients in Kisumu public hospitals can now breathe a sigh of relief after health workers in the County resumed work.
This comes following the intervention of Governor Jack Ranguma. Medical personnel especially nurses have been protesting delayed salaries.
Speaking over the weekend, the County Director of Health, Dr. Lusi Ojwang said that Treasury has released funds for payment of the health practitioners' salaries.
“It was not necessarily a strike but a go-slow because of the delays of their salaries. They have received the payment and have resumed their normal duties,” said Dr. Lusi.
Public hospitals that were most affected were Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral hospital, Kisumu East, Kombewa and Ahero sub-County hospitals.
